The Things I’ve Learned From Jerry Maguire and Will Say

There’s a word & concept in the movie Jerry Maguire that character Rod Tidwell uses in his dealings with his agent, Jerry, that has always spoken to me.

Quan.

What’s Quan, you ask?

According to our beloved Rod:

“It means love, respect, community…and the dollars too. The entire package. The Quan!”

It’s through the length of the film that we see Jerry and Rod take an initially uneasy but faithful relationship and build it into one of integrity, camaraderie, trust, and genuine love for one another.

This movie – aside from its epic one-liners, all-too-relatable characters, and funny quirks – taught me a lot about client service, especially in the mortgage biz.

And I’ve taken lessons from it in running my brokerage.

Let me boil it down for you.

Call it a mission statement, if you will.

(No, not a memo.)
